The project I'm currently working on is titled "Siddhi," which is both a play on words and a hint towards the narrative. “Siddhi” is a Sanskrit word which is pronounced like “city” and translates to mean magical or paranormal powers.
I was recently talking to a young man who has been living on the street with his dog for the past three years. I was telling him about my photographs and mentioned: “I feel that there’s a dark energy to this city.” Without missing a beat he quickly replied, “I know, that’s why I came here. I’m hoping it’ll kill me.”
