Arcanite Pictures

About

Arcanite Pictures is an online photography platform and project space seeking to highlight emerging and overlooked artists. Started by Brian Van Lau in his shitty one bedroom in Seattle, Arcanite strives for candor and a barebones approach to critique, art, and process.

If you were unfortunately redirected here in search of Arcana Books in Culver City, CA, you better get that Google on yer phone fixed because bud, this ain't it. This website was named after its founder's favorite Yu-Gi-Oh! card.

We are now open to feature submissions!

1. Send an artist intro to arcanitepictures@gmail.com including at least 10 pictures from an on-going or completed project.

2. Feature articles will typically include 10-15 images and a written statement (this does not necessarily mean bio, artist statement, thesis, etc., poems, notes, prose, anecdotes are HIGHLY encouraged as well)

3. Artist’s can choose to either make an edit of their own work to feature, or to have Arcanite Pictures make an edit of the work presented. In either, all selected works and their sequencing will be approved from the contributing artist before publishing.

4. Arcanite Pictures encourages to submit work that’s overlooked, precious, communal, romantic, complicated, and powerful.
