Kylie Maxfield is a photographer based in Humboldt County and her ongoing work explores how the female gaze influences the romanticization of the mundane and her expression of sensuality, intimacy and identity.
“There is a deep consideration for closeness as I position my camera in ways that make myself and my subjects feel vulnerable. Dancing a silent tango, we become familiar. My camera acts as a veil and allows a natural affinity to form with the subject.”
